After a well-earned rest, Steve woke up ready for his next case. The city buzzed with life as he walked to his office, and Steve noticed that the streets were more crowded than usual. Bats of all shapes and sizes zipped through the air, their wings creating a steady hum that filled the city. It was a good day to get to work.
As Steve settled into his desk to tackle some paperwork, the door to his office swung open. A bat collector fluttered in, looking eager and slightly out of breath. The collector’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
“Are you Steve, the Bat Detective?” the collector asked.
“That’s me,” Steve replied, leaning back in his chair.
“I have a challenge for you,” the collector said, his voice rising with enthusiasm. “I want you to find out if the Legendary Beast of Myth—also known as Twu—is real.”
Steve raised an eyebrow. “Alright, I’ll do it,” he answered calmly.
“Fantastic!” the collector nearly shouted, unable to contain his excitement.
“Do you have any idea where Twu might be?” Steve asked, leaning forward.
“Twu is believed to live on Mythical Island,” the collector explained.
Without hesitation, Steve packed his things—water, food, his magic bag, and a camera—and took off for Mythical Island. The journey was grueling, with days of flying over vast stretches of water. The winds were strong, and Steve’s wings ached, but he pressed on. When he finally arrived, he was greeted by a breathtaking sight.
Mythical Island was teeming with life. Beasts of every size and color roamed the lush landscape, their calls echoing through the dense jungle. Steve marveled at the variety, but his awe quickly turned to concern. Finding Twu among so many creatures would be far harder than he had imagined.
As he explored, Steve’s sharp eyes caught sight of a waterfall cascading down a rocky cliff. “If I were hiding, that’s where I’d go,” he muttered to himself. He carefully approached the waterfall and slipped behind the curtain of water, expecting to find a hidden lair. But there was nothing—just wet rocks glistening in the dim light.
Frustrated but not defeated, Steve pressed on. Deeper into the island, he spotted the dark mouth of a cave. His heart raced as he entered. Inside, the air was cool and damp, and faint sounds echoed from deeper within. Suddenly, he saw it—a small, pink creature unlike anything he’d ever seen. Its soft glow illuminated the cave walls.
“That has to be Twu,” Steve whispered, grabbing his camera. He snapped a series of photos, his excitement growing with each click. Confident, he crept closer and lunged, but Twu was quicker than he expected. The creature slipped out of his grasp and darted into the air, disappearing into the jungle.
Steve’s wings drooped in frustration. He stared at the photos on his camera and considered giving up. After all, no one had even seen Twu before—he already had proof. But something inside him refused to quit. Determined, Steve headed into the dense jungle, searching for any sign of the elusive creature.
Hours later, Steve caught sight of Twu resting on a branch. This time, he knew he had to be smarter. Watching the movements of a slow-moving turtle-like beast nearby, Steve got an idea. He crouched low and crawled slowly, mimicking the turtle’s movements. Bit by bit, he closed the distance between himself and Twu.
When he was close enough, Steve leaped forward, opening his magic bag in one swift motion. Twu let out a startled squeak but was caught before it could escape.
“Yes! I did it! I caught the Legendary Beast of Myth!” Steve shouted, his voice echoing through the jungle.
Triumphant, Steve made his way to a nearby river, where he drank deeply and rested before beginning the long journey back to Bat City. After several days of travel, he finally landed at his office. The collector was waiting, his wings twitching with anticipation.
Steve handed over the photos and opened his bag to reveal Twu. The collector’s jaw dropped.
“You—you actually caught the Legendary Beast of Myth?” the collector stammered, his voice filled with awe.
“Yeah, what’s the big deal?” Steve asked, tilting his head in confusion.
“No one has ever even taken a picture of Twu before, let alone caught it!” the collector exclaimed.
“Oh,” Steve said, suddenly realizing the significance of what he had done.
As the collector left, still marveling at the photos and the captured Twu, Steve returned home. He climbed into his hammock, exhausted but satisfied. For now, the city was quiet, and Steve was ready to rest. Another case closed, another legend solved.
